All meetings of the Board of Education are open to members of the public unless publicly noticed as confidential as allowed by the law (Education Code Section 35147). Members of the public may address the Board as outlined in the Hearing Section of the agenda. All meetings are recorded and a member of the public may be held liable for any slanderous or otherwise defamatory statements. a. The Board has adopted Board Policy 9323(b) to ensure the public's right to be heard in any matters pertaining to the San Marino Unified School District. We respectfully request that if you would like to address the Board of Education about any matter, you complete a REQUEST TO ADDRESS THE BOARD card and submit it to the Superintendent prior to the start of the meeting or to the Assistant to the Superintendent during the meeting. The President of the Board will invite speakers to the podium to address the Board during discussion of the relevant agenda item. Comments concerning matters on the agenda may be heard at this time, but not responded to by the Board of Education. Five minutes may be allotted to each speaker and a maximum of 20 minutes to each subject matter.

a. PTAffiliates Donation Presentation      (D)  
  PTAffiliates will present their annual donation totaling $115,000 to the San Marino Unified School District. The funds are intended to support the instructional program needs at school sites. The funds will be allocated to the schools on a per student amount basis.

b. 2014-15 Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)         (D)  (V)  
  Principals Liz Hollingsworth, Colleen Shields, Jason Kurtenbach and Mary Johnson will present the major goals of their 2014-15 Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

c. 2014-2015 Certifications of Assurance - Comprehensive School Safety Plans      (D)  (V)  
  In accordance with SB187, the "No Child Left Behind Act," and Education Codes 32280 - 32289, all schools are required to update their Comprehensive School Safety Plans on an annual basis. Each School Site Council, along with the site administrators, consulted with local law enforcement and fire agencies when writing each Plan. Public hearings on the plans were held at the school site level. Each school's Comprehensive School Safety Plan, with the exception of tactical response information, is available for review at the school site or at the District Office. The following certifications are presented for approval:

- Valentine Elementary School
- Carver Elementary School
- Huntington Middle School

Unfold 10.  BUSINESS SERVICES   
         
a. Interfund Transfer of $2,680.00 from Unrestricted General Fund 01.0 to Health Benefits Fund 17.0      (D)  (V)  
  It is recommended that the $2,680.00 received from American Fidelity Assurance Company be transferred to the Health Benefits Fund 17.0. The funds represent Section 125 year-end balances as of September 30, 2014. In accordance with negotiated bargaining unit agreements, any realized savings is transferred to the Health Benefits Fund 17.0.
